Family First!

To me family is the second most important in my life ( GOD is FIRST). I have had an blessed life as far. Eventhou, both of my parents are gone on to heaven. I have wonderful memories of them both. My mother was a HUGE supporter of my choice when I decided to become a lesbian. I have not always been this way. I loved men and men only. As for my wife, she was born a lesbian (her family was supported of her).
My father and 2 of my brothers wasn't as understanding. It was very hard for them to understand this choice of their only sister. Living in a small town of a 1000+ didn't make it easy any easy on them either. Small town, small minds.
My love for them didn't lessen, just because of there feelings and thoughts. IT JUST MADE ME STRONG!
Being gay in the south in the 80's and 90's was really hard. There were 2 things they frowned upon other than race was mixed marriages, and being gay. With all that, I'm a woman!
Your so-called friends from childhood turns their backs on you as if they never known you. It was like you were from another plant, when they seen you. As the sayings goes: WHAT DON'T KILL YOU, WILL ONLY MAKE YOU STRONGER!
Having a strong mother and a brother that loved me unconditionally got me through it. My wife was oh so very supported as well. She had lived through it all her life so she was used to it. It always amazed me how people can judge you and they life was a total mess.
With the strong love of my adopted kids and the family that kept me strong to make it everyday.
So no matter what, being me and loving me has made me the strong woman I am today.
